Deductible Buyback Policy.

This policy does not replace the homeowner’s policy, but is a separate policy that reduces the homeowner’s out-of-pocket expenses for covered non-wind and hail claims down to $200. The policy is written on a following-form basis under the homeowner’s primary insurance policy.

“As you may be aware, deductibles on homeowner’s policies in the State of Texas are often 1% or higher of the dwelling value on the policy,” said Guy Hoffman, U.S. Home Team, Inc. “This means that many losses due to common perils such as sudden and accidental discharge (hot water heaters bursting, pipes breaking, dishwasher, toilet, or washing machine overflow), small kitchen or grease fires, vandalism and malicious mischief, etc., often fall below the deductible, or just above it — making it undesirable to file a claim.

“Even when the loss is significantly higher, many policyholders can’t afford their deductibles, leaving them with a significant gap between the indemnity they receive from their insurance carrier and the cost to restore their property to its pre-loss condition.”
