Thomas “Tom” Rutledge, a fourth-generation Dallasite, joins The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. to manage life insurance sales for all of Texas. He will lead a dozen-plus team of account executives based in the company’s Dallas and Houston life insurance sales offices.

Rutledge brings more than twenty years of experience in sales and sales management at the retail and wholesale levels to the position, most recently as regional managing director at The Phoenix Companies. He received his B.B.A. in finance and insurance from Baylor University, and holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) professional designations.

Rutledge will lead a sales force trained to help brokers, advisors and independent agents across Texas to provide clients with sophisticated financial, business and estate-planning advice.

The Hartford is preparing to launch a plan to expand sales from banks and wirehouses into the independent agent channel. The company has more than 200 account executives, making it the largest assisted sales force serving advisors and brokers in the nation.
