Letter to the Editor–
to the conviction and imprisonment of former Attorney General Dan Morales and one of the six lawyers.
Glen, At the end of the old year and the new year’s start, I want to take a moment to reflect on 2009’s progress and look to the challenges we face in 2010.
transparency and accountability in the employment of outside lawyers by the State’s Attorney General. TLR advocated these reforms in the wake of the $3.3 billion legal fee generated from the Texas Tobacco Settlement that led
Looking Forward in 2010. TLR is moving forward with our public education, media, and research efforts while TLR PAC is already tackling the 2010 Primary and General Campaigns where the trial lawyers are preparing for another assault on pro-tort reform candidates. Notably, most of these campaigns are funded almost exclusively by plaintiff lawyers.
Advocacy. Civil Justice Leadership. TLR presented its Civil Justice Leadership Award to a number of state legislators across Texas who fought for a fair and balanced civil justice system in the last legislative session. We have additional award presentations planned for the spring.
National Recognition. Texas has been lauded by the American Tort Reform Association for the TLR-backed legislation passed in 1999 that created
